About Gulf Savers™

Gulf Saver Solutions is an initiative of the 501 (c) (3) not-for-profit, women's majority owned corporation Restore The Earth Foundation Inc., dedicated to the expansion of environmental restoration efforts and awareness in our society. Our concentrated sustainability efforts focus on environmental conservation/restoration, education and stewardship, nationally and internationally.

Gulf Saver Solutions began in the wake of the Deepwater Horizon Oil Spill. Restore The Earth Foundation joined together to restore Gulf Coast wetlands with The Coalition to Restore Coastal Louisiana, GRIT, Barataria-Terrebonne National Estuary Program, the Coalition to Restore Coastal Louisiana, National Audubon Society and The Nature Conservancy and Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries.

Since the launch of this initiative to deploy the very first restoration site on the ground in oil soiled wetlands, we have expanded our collaboration to include many other regional and national partners. We continue to expand our efforts with support from communities, environmental groups, volunteers and schools in the growing of our plant materials, assembly and implementation of the enviro-bags, research, monitoring, wetland environmental education and stewardship. What are we doing to restore the Gulf Coast Wetlands?

The Gulf Savers initiative is raising funds through your donations to provide Gulf Saver Bags and required funding to programs and site-specific projects for environmental groups and community based volunteers to take action in protecting and preventing additional damage and erosion to threatened Gulf Coast ecosystems. Gulf Saver bags are also designed to begin remediation and restoration of ecosystems already damaged or destroyed from oil contamination.

New technologies and applications are needed to achieve greater stabilization, higher survivability and integration of diverse vegetation back into to these areas, particularly where invasive species have become excessively dominant. Though wetland restoration with grass plugs is being done in some wetland areas, re-establishing success is limited in many challenged sites. Gulf Saver Bags provide a new solution for greater success in wetland and wildlife habitat restoration.

Gulf Saver Bags are delivered to critical sites by work boats, barges, airboats and shallow draft boats. Our environmental restoration team and volunteers are involved in every step of the delivery of Gulf Saver protection and restoration.

The Gulf Saver Bag is a package of native marsh grasses with its own supply of totally natural nutrients and billions of oil eating micro-organisms to support, feed and protect the marsh grasses, promoting survival and growth to stabilize and restore the ecosystems and habitats.

In full cooperation with Nature, Gulf Savers brings one simple "all natural" solution to assist the Gulf Coast's ecosystems to accelerate the recovery process in the Gulf of Mexico from the Deep Horizon oil spill damage.
