Background
The Gulf Saver Bag is an environmental restoration bag that has been specifically adapted for Gulf Coast ecosystems. This new innovative solution, with its custom soil mix combined with native plant materials and biodegradable casing is ideal for remediation, stabilization and revegetation of damage and disappearing wetlands
Environmental bags were developed in collaboration with the US Army Corps of Engineers and used the first time to stabilize the banks and "jump start" the re-vegetation on the Mississippi River following the major "100 year" flood event in 1993.
Adaptations of environmental bags for specific ecosystems restoration have used since 1993 all along the Mississippi River and in the Mississippi Delta.
This is the first application in shoreline wetlands, marshes, coastal beaches and barrier islands.
Gulf Saver restoration projects are in partnership with The Gulf Coast Involvement Team, (GRIT) and other environmental organizations.

Windrows of RootZone Humus. RootZone Humus is an all natural bioremediation concentrate alive with beneficial micro organisms. These microbes digest hydrocarbon contamination in the water and soil and provide nutrients for root growth to support, feed and protect marsh plants.
Inside the Gulf Saver Bags is all natural organic Humus. Humus is the result of the decomposition of animal and vegetable matter through the action of bacteria. The Humus in the Gulf Saver Bag is made up of premium natural components. Plant matter is the foundation for an aerobic and thermophilic (heat sensitive/normal outdoor) decomposition process of composting, recycling organic materials maintaining the natural process of nutrient cycling within ecosystems.
Beneficial microorganisms, including beneficial bacteria and fungi are present, stimulating microbial life, including those microorganisms that are oleophilic (like to eat/decompose OIL). Ecosystem specific all natural amendments (worm casings, rock powders, coir etc) are added to address specific plant types being supported and/or to balance against certain harsh conditions where restoration is being done.
